Sophomore Inspire Week

Sophomore Inspire Week

By Christopher Atchison

For this week I chose the MakerLab Inspire Week; what we did was help clean up the maker lab, weld tables, and make pencil boxes for the lab to put all over. When I started on Monday, I was not sure about how fun this would be, but once we go there Wednesday I began to see how much fun this would be! I started by painting a wall in the metalworking room with Mason and Ryan. Then we helped cut off the legs of a table to make a smaller welding table with wheels on the legs; this was fun because we got to work with band saws and grinders. After that, I learned about servos until the end of the day. Thursday we got there and started welding, and he taught the whole class, but Taylor Mason and I started on a metal able for the chop saw and got to work on that for the rest of the day.

Strengths:  To this group, I brought my leadership skills and initiative. When we were handed the MIG welder, and everyone hesitated. I jumped right in wanting to show the way. It turned out to be so much fun, and I really enjoyed it, and it was a very eye open experience into other possible career fields.

Learning:  One thing I learned about my self is that I am very eager to jump into new physical things! Whenever I am reading or learning something, I always feel like it will take to much time for me to learn, so I hesitate, but when it comes to something physical I still want to try. This might be because it would just take less time in general to do, but I always feel more motivated
