Eating is an Agricultural Act?” The Ethics of Food and Eating

1: Through this project my food ethic has not changed much because I have had such a strong one from my family. I realized at a young age that regular meat was not treated very well because my parents called it "sad" cow or pig. When we bought our meat from other places such as James Ranch they called it happy. We also grew food from our own garden so overall this project did not change my food ethic much. It just enlightened what i already knew.

2: I really liked learning about how food works and cooks in chemistry,  learning about food in both classes impacted the depth of my learning greatly.

3:My main takeaways from this project are that food is something that does not just come out of mid-air it has hours of work and preparation in it before it arrived at your table. I am surprised America does not spend more time look at what it puts into its own body because you are what you eat.

"Your Life on Earth" Personal Philosophy Project

1: Project Description

This project was studying existentialism, I took it in the direction of studying religion because it is one of the things that decide us the most as humans but I looked at a pice that was included in all religious texts saying live thy neighbor.

2: New Insights

The new insight I have is that humanity always has good intentions but it all gets messed by gree and hate in others.

3: Further Questions and Intellectual Work Left to Do

All I need to figure out know is why we are on this earth, what is my point and earth. and why are we so afraid of death is if it is a natural part of life?

Rhetoric and Ideoligy

Humanities Photoshop Project 3_EMAIL.jpg

My project was about the gun control dilemma in today’s society. It was about how both liberal and conservative-minded people want to protect our children and society but the difference is whether we feel safer with fewer guns or more guns. My op-ed analyzed these different mindsets and tried to find a middle ground where both sides could be more comfortable. Through this project my political option was shifted slightly, I was largely liberal when I went into this project not looking forward to hearing pro-gun views but once I go into my first interview I learned that they were not as unreasonable as I thought. They still largely want to protect people and make sure our schools are safe they just look more for preventive measures then the restriction on guns. This has taught me a lot about the party system and democracy in general. It shows how divided we are as a nation and all we are doing in focusing more on our differences then what we can bond over, showing that democracy is a joke of sorts that no options of the people are taking into account only of the “majority” and hi-profile figures. It makes me want to go more as an independent, not affiliation with a party with set morals but choosing my own path and what I want to support. Now what we need to do as a nation is have more willingness to be disturbed, more willingness not to focus on our differences but look for our similarities. Where we can bond instead of tear, and create a better America for all of us.
